Fish Haven Farm, Candor, NY
A family-owned and operated business that's been providing freshwater fish for stocking private ponds, lakes, and streams since 1981. Located on Route 96, only one mile south of Iron Kettle Farm (see their info below) and, for you golfers looking for a new challenge, right next to Catatonk Golf Course. Iron Kettle Farm, Candor, NY
Greenhouses full of bedding plants, hanging baskets, and perennials. U-pick strawberries, farm fresh produce, Grandma's Barn gift shop, farm animals, and an annual Spooktacular Pumpkin Display. More info, including directions, can be found on the Iron Kettle website.
Mountain Top Greenhouses, Barton, NY
Annuals, perennials, herbs, vegetables, hanging baskets, and combination pots fill their six new greenhouses. Check out their website for more info, including weekly specials. If you're coming from Binghamton/Owego, stay on Route 17C and travel west through Owego. As you come down the hill into Tioga Center, turn right onto Halsey Valley Road (if you go over the bridge in Tioga Center, you've gone too far). From there, Mountain Top is just 2.5 miles down on the left. If you're coming from Ithaca, take Route 34/96 to Spencer, turn left onto Route 96 at the flashing red light in Spencer, and then turn right onto Halsey Valley Road just as you leave town. Continue down Halsey Valley Road for ~11 miles and Mountain Top will be on your right.

Plantasia Nursery, Spencer, NY
Specializes in quality container-grown plants. Over 600 varieties of trees, shrubs, perennials, and grasses, including rare and unusual trees and shrubs, dwarf and topiary specimens, as well as commonly-used landscaping plants. Although primarily a wholesale nursery, Plantasia also invites retail customers to visit. Visit the Plantasia Nursery website for more info, including their extensive plant list and directions.

If you're also looking for a nice place to eat while you're out this way, below are a few suggestions for where you might want to grab a bite. Several of these restaurants are located right here in Spencer, so you won't have to travel far to enjoy a good meal.

DaVinci's Ristorante, Spencer, NY
Located right off Route 34 in the village of Spencer (in the same plaza as the Dollar General store). Open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Their menu includes pasta dishes, New York style pizza, wings, hot and cold subs, salads, and various "down-home" dishes. Everything we've had there has been good. We occasionally have menus and coupons for them in our free literature rack in the shop, so please help yourself. You can also check out their website for more details.

Highway Dairy Bar, Candor, NY
Great ice cream, as well as various sandwiches from the grill - cheeseburgers, chicken sandwiches, french fries, and more. Outdoor covered eating area. Located on Route 96B, only six miles east of Totalily. Click here for a map. If you're a quilter, be sure to check out Pucky Huddle Delight, a really nice quilting store that's located almost right next door.

Jack's Family Restaurant and Bar, Candor, NY
Check out the Facebook page for Jack's Restaurant for current info on daily specials and hours of operation. Great service and fantastic food! Located right on Route 96, only six-and-a-half miles east of Totalily.

Parkview Pizzeria, Spencer, NY
Located right in the village of Spencer, next to the Shurfine grocery store. Speedy service and very good food, including pizza, calzones, wings, subs, burgers, hot dogs, salads, and various other "finger foods." Join their loyal following on their Facebook page. We have menus for them at the shop, so please feel free to ask to see one. PS - They also serve ice cream!

Reese's Country Diner, Spencer, NY
Just opened in February, 2011 right on Route 96 in the old "RV's Restaurant" building that's been COMPLETELY remodeled. Open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Features a "typical" but tasty diner-menu including burgers, hot and cold sandwiches, and "home-cooked" meals (like macaroni and cheese, meatloaf, and pot roast). While you're there, don't forget to try a piece of one of their MANY pie varieties or take a slice home to enjoy later. Scheduled to also start serving ice cream later in 2011.
